Capturing the Cold: An Authentic Shoot for Saunaus
When Rhylka reached out to create images for the upcoming launch of Saunaus, a new sauna and ice bath retreat in Wollongong, I knew this wouldn’t be your standard business shoot. The vision was clear: natural, artistic photography that told a real story. Something raw, immersive, and a little wild.

An Icy Winter Mission
We met on a crisp winter morning at Scarborough Beach, ready to bring the concept to life. With bags of ice in hand, the plan was to transform a rock pool into something that looked straight out of Iceland. Of course, the ocean had other ideas. One wave swept away our first bag of ice before we could even start. But we regrouped, tried again, and nailed it on the second go.

Natural Light, Real Moments
Rhylka’s creative direction was beautifully simple. Keep it raw. Keep it real. Embrace the slightly out-of-focus, ethereal aesthetic. As the light shifted and the waves crashed, the shoot came alive. The photos weren’t just portraits; they became part of the story Saunaus wanted to share.

Authentic Photography for Meaningful Brands
This shoot was a perfect example of how natural, unpolished moments can create stunning, memorable images. It’s especially powerful for businesses looking to connect with their audience in a genuine and lasting way.
