When is the best age to do a cake smash?

Around 12 to 14 months is the perfect age for a cake smash photo session. Your baby will be curious. They'll love the cake's texture. The taste is still new and exciting! Book soon, and you could use the photos for their first birthday invites.

What can I expect from a cake shams with Creative Events Photography?

These very fun photoshoots happen in my comfy home studio in Austinmer. That's south of Sydney, in the Illawarra (Wollongong). You and your baby can relax and have a great time.

I'll organise a cute backdrop for indoors or outdoors. Think balloons, pompoms, and fun banners. I even bring a cake stand. Don't worry about the mess! I'll take care of the cleanup. There's also a comfy spot for you to clean up your little one.

What should my little one wear to the shoot?

What should your baby wear? Something that looks great with the cake! Pick the outfit first, then the cake. This way, the colours will match nicely.

Think tutus, ribbons, or a little tie. Maybe a superhero cape or a cute headband. Even just a nappy can look adorable! Mums, wear colours that go with your baby's outfit. You might be in some photos if your baby needs encouragement. Bring a clean top for yourself – cake gets everywhere!

Do I need to provide the cake?

Not a baker? No worries! I know a fantastic local cake maker. They make amazing giant cupcakes. It's easy – the cake gets delivered right to the studio for $75.

You can even choose the colours to match your theme. Just let me know if you want to add a cake to your photoshoot.

Can I bring my own cake?

If you love to bake, and want to bring your own cake, here are a few tips:
- Light cakes look best for smashing
- A big cupcake is perfect!
- Pastel colours work great with the backdrops.
- Sprinkles and other colourful decorations add fun to the photos.
- Avoid red and chocolate icing.
